Meeting Notes April 11, 2008

Group members present today are Luke, Jessica H., Shayla, and Kristin.

Today we talked about the articles found so far and how they related to what we did on previous article summaries. Luke gave some advice and told the group that he did a general overview and then broke down the three articles and then wrote his conclusion to the three articles for his summary. We talked about broadening our topics for the sake of finding more sources. All of us agreed that as long as we addressed the original topics we had decided on it would be okay to broaden our ideas to visual, auditory, and physical distractions. We decided to do some additional work with working memory and tie that in with distractions of various forms.

Some new ideas for presentation that our group came up with include: teaching something completely random and useless and then find interruptions such as classical music then crazy disruptive music and then smooth and then crazy again, set up strobe lights and make them flash or be bright in the student’s faces, we are going to send out a mass text to everyone’s phones at the same time and make them all vibrate at once—creating a massive distraction, and we also decided to create other weird/crazy distractions.

We are making a power point that will explain each of our individual topics and have an introduction and conclusion slide. Everyone is to have their resources for their 3rd research summary here by next week so that we can begin our scholarly paper and be able to copy and paste the APA resources right onto the works cited page. For the paper, we decided that because we have a large group each person really only needs to write out about two-thirds of a page and email it or bring it on Monday. We are going to compile everything together during class and then write the introduction and conclusion there.
