Research Notes
Kristin- Bright Lights Department stores, younger people more attracted to brighter color. (Green, Yellow)
Shayla- Sounds affecting daily task performance. Tested high and low razzle, conversation, silence. Low razzle best for concentration.
Jessica- Pedestrians and iPods. Proposed law for NY to ban iPods. People loose situational awareness when listening to an iPod. Music and task performance. Tested student performance with music. Did well with instrumental. Split when listening to music they really like. (Was either really low or really high.)
Sergio- Cocktail party effect. Able to block extratanious information when it is playing in only one ear. Able to distinguish information from background noise.
Luke- Flashing lights. People easily distracted by lights that are flashing. Concentration is disrupted and takes awhile to reaquire after lost.
Laura- Can't talk. Coughs blood everytime she opens her mouth. Possibly dying? I found an article over cell phone use and driving. The result was that all cell phone use distracts people from driving. Intense converstaions distract more and the effect is greater in people age 50 and over compared to younger adults.
